Our Produce #BreakTheLawn
Who are our Customers?
You want your food to be free of harmful chemicals.
You recognize that farm food is not like food from the grocery store. Our produce might be dirty or oddly shaped but it tastes amazing! You might even find an occasional cabbage worm or aphid but that’s how you know our practices are organic (although we’re not certified organic).
You want to try new things. You’ll be introduced to some new veggies that aren’t often found in stores. Think kohlrabi, collard greens, rutabaga etc. It can be a lot of fun and it will get you cooking some more unusual dishes.
You value community and the world we live in. We do our best to be good stewards of the land and try to leave it better than we found it. This is at the heart of all of our farming practices. By supporting our local farm and small business you are supporting these practices.
Why Buy Locally?
Buying locally allows you to reduce your carbon footprint since your veggies don't need to travel hundreds or thousands of miles. Since we don't pay to transport our produce we can pass that savings on to you. You can also take comfort in knowing where your food is coming from, who is growing it and what practices they are using. Plus, your veggies will be even fresher and tastier.
By farming on what was once lawns, which need 4 times more water than most crops, we'll be reduce overall water consumption for the community. Rain barrels will be installed and collected rainwater will be the primary source for our irrigation.
We'll also be creating habitat for beneficial pollinators, like honey bees. We also hope to start a conversation with the community about the impacts of chemicals often used on lawns in the hopes of reducing pesticide and herbicide use.
